Named from the German word for false copper
Has a lustrous, metallic, silvery tinge
Not necessary to make nickel in the laboratory, it is available commercially
Sp. Gr. is 8.902 
Boiling point is 2,732 ºc
Melting point is 1,453 ºc
Found as a constituent in most meteorites
